Somewhere In Between - Short Film (2024)

Somewhere In Between (2024) is a short film written and directed by Conor Renton.

Synopsis:

Ben, a young man wakes up one morning but something is off. He sees his mother, Heather, on the sofa sniffing as if she has been crying. When he trys to speak to her she looks in his direction but not at him. Mike who is Ben's estranged father enters causing Heathers sadness to turn to anger at the sight of him. Many years ago Mike was abussive towards Ben and Heather. Mike and Heather argue with each other as if Ben is not there. Mike leaves causing Heather to break down, causing Ben to attempt to comfort his mother, she becomes histerical with fear and sadness, as if she had seen a ghost. Ben leaves confused and upset that he has caused his mother to feel this way and goes to his room. At this point he remembers what has happend. Ben is dead. He commited suicide because of the abuse his father put him through and felt it was the only way out. He finds the note he intended to leave and adds an extra apology to his mother in order for her to have closure.
